2017 Service Award
This year’s recipient, Ann Favreau, is more than worthy of this honor and was nominated with a resounding number of entries. Her countless hours of time and dedication to our mission is certainly why.
Her list of involvement and participation could be published in Who’s Who! Ann has served as United Ostomy Association President, the Secretary of the International Ostomy Association, Facilitator of the Venice, Florida Ostomy Support Group, Member of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, The Lions Club Membership Chair and Board Member and as President of the Suncoast Writers Guild.
Ann joined the FOW-USA Board of Directors and became vice president in the fall of 2012. In her fluid transition to president in 2015, Ann brought her amazing style of broad thinking, always coming up with ideas and visions to take FOW-USA to another level.
Commitment to detail is a good summation of Ann’s skills and her committee guidance and suggestions for our 2017 by-law changes and updates holds true to that. Her involvement on the PR Committee continues after stepping down as committee chair when she took over as President she actively participates in committee meetings as an ex officio member.
Her involvement with the Lions Club created her vision and our ultimate involvement for funding assistance for Lions for Stoma Care.
Articulate and polished, she is a published author of poetry, books and articles. Her contacts and numerous resources have been such an asset for FOW-USA getting articles about us published in numerous publications gaining us very positive and added exposure.
Ann’s work as president was to end with her last term in 2017 but her willingness to stay on and work with the nominating committee’s succession plan (and her ability to convince husband, Ray, that this was okay to do) was selfless.
Ann was presented with the award at the annual Board of Directors meeting on Oct 8, 2017 in Louisville, Kentucky.
