Call for FOW-USA Volunteers

Friends of Ostomates Worldwide-USA (FOW-USA)

We’re seeking dedicated volunteers to support the FOW-USA Board of Directors. A background or interest in ostomy care is helpful but not required. Time commitment varies by role. Most positions require basic computer and email skills (not needed for warehouse work). Volunteers will receive an FOW-USA Gmail account for communication. Attendance at bi-monthly board meetings is optional but encouraged for auditing purposes.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Information Line Support (remote)

Monitor FOW-USA’s voicemail and email contact lines (listed at fowusa.org/contact-us).
Respond to common questions (FAQ provided) or route them to the appropriate team member.

Time: ~8 hours/week
Tasks:
- Check and respond to voicemail and emails within 48 hours
- Blind copy responses to info@fowusa.org
- Report trends to assigned Board member

Public Relations Support (remote)

Promote FOW-USA’s mission through content creation and outreach, under the PR Chair’s guidance.

Time: Varies by task
Tasks (choose one):
- Write short pieces for newsletters or social media
- Proofread public documents
- Represent FOW-USA at support group meetings (in-person or virtual)

Warehouse Volunteer (onsite in Louisville, KY)

Support logistics by organizing, sorting, and packing donated ostomy supplies at our warehouse (4018 Bishop Lane, Louisville, KY).

Time: Flexible during open hours: Mon/Wed/Fri, 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM ET
Skills: Basic reading and counting
